The hunt for vampires. Then the Ark.
The sirus that hold that ark has lured every living person searching for it into a web of chaos. Even worse his new protector has his own issues to deal with. They find harmony for a short while but what would you expect a sirus to do. Being followed by a guy who won't tell him anything about his past and fights in battle like a blood obsessed demon.
The two will face a trial while the ones trying to find them face the ancient trials of a long since forgotten city of sacrificial power.
The only problem.. something between them changes.. the sirus finds out the dark past of this man he runs with and part of it scares him.

A woman cannot rule the Kingdom of Vivelle. If a king should only have daughters, then the princesses are to participate in a Queens Trial. The losing queens will be sacrificed back to the people as punishment for their ancestor's crimes. Or more specifically, the crimes of the Mad Queen. ... Princess Illyana is the eldest of the king's five daughters. In a few days time, the Queens Trial will begin and there are only two possible outcomes. The first is she will fail and get sacrificed. The second is she will win and be forcibly wed to a cruel man and live the rest of her life knowing she is alive because her sisters are dead. Illyana wants more.
