In a world governed by the power of heat and light and by extension, the wisps, a self-proclaimed monster hunter named Lux joins the Fiery's Cup, a single-elimination tournament designed to determine the strongest aspiring soldier among all youth- at least, that's how everyone sees it. For Lux, however, it is only perfect for one thing, its prize- the Obsidian dagger, the sharpest tool known to man. With his family trapped under the unworldly webs of a supreme monster weaver, Aburaknittu, he and his young companion Guzan, must do everything they can to win the tournament and obtain the dagger. Along the way, Lux meets a lady of her age named Athea whose goal was the same as his, to win. But when the transgressions the young man left behind at his home are starting to catch up, the three of them will have to stick by each other.
