I've actually wanted to write a story based on this line for awhile now and why not do it about a haunted hotel ?
Incorporating some aspects of "The Haunting of Hill House" as well, like all those who die in the house, stay there forever
Also pulling architectural details from the Winchester Mystery House
Inspiration includes Miss Peregrine's House for Peculiar Children
Hotel is based off the Claremont Hotel in California
Setting: a stand alone / massive hotel (only one building, but imagine a hotel similar to the one in the shining) spread across many acres. In (not a desert but an environment similar to a desert) in California.
Time period: 1970's
Characters: Heather, age 24. Christine, age 26. Lori, age 23.
Plot: 3 friends have heard this legend about a hotel in the middle of nowhere and decide to go and see if it is real or if it is really just a legend.

Welcome to my LONGEST STORY UP TO DATE!!!!!! \(^o^)/ Short synopsis: "A teenage girl shares the story of her strange life. How at one particular moment, things changed when she heard odd noises coming from out of her wardrobe. Even after years of experiencing the same thing at night over and over again, she still wasn't able to figure out why she was being haunted by the entity in her closet since the day she turned eleven. She eventually decided not to ponder about it anymore and get used to the situation. But then, a couple of days before her seventeenth birthday, she starts to discover a very dark past that has way more to do with herself than she could have ever imagined." I can't believe my longest story is written in English (since that isn't my native language), but it is and I'm... kinda... PROUD of it! Izzy was meeting up with a group of her friends at an abandoned hotel. As they continued to walk along the floors the boards creaked.They heard so many scary stories about this place that a couple was murdered in room C3 on the third floor. A case never truly solved because no one had been able to set foot in that room. Izzy and her friends wanted to test this and see if this was really true. Izzy started to wander off from her friends in a different direction not realizing her and her friends have been separated. She was calling out for her friends "Tyler,Hannah,Justin!". As she is calling for them she is going deeper and deeper into this hotel. She keeps hearing faint whispers she says "Anyone there?" but no response.She receives a text on her phone from her friends that they are on the third floor waiting for her. She walks down a very dark hallway scattered with trash and the lights are flickering on and off. She comes to this elevator. Izzy entered the empty elevator and pushed the button for my floor.
