Years after the first use, Kestra Manning fell into the Well, joining other unfortunate souls trapped in the Clear, a world inside the Well. She meets Samuel, the seemingly blind boy, Melanie, her contemporary, Finnighan, lost in his own world, and Amanda, the optimist. As Kes wanders the vast land of the Plane with her new accomplices, her urge to escape only intensifies. With the help of her new companions, she soon realizes that it's not impossible - but can Kes do it?
