PROLOGUE: In my hometown, every park and trailhead has what is called a little library. This little libraries are house shaped, wooden boxes where people can put used or even new books in for people to take for free and not worry about due dates and late fines. Anyone of any age or backround can take a book that a stranger thought would be good for the public. Passerby are encouraged but not required to return the book or put in another book from their house when they are done. On occasion, you will find a book from decades, maybe even a century ago. Usually when you find a book that is so ancient, there will be a name or date or note or all of these scribbled inside the front cover. Seeing such old pen marks makes someone like me wonder who this person was, what was their story, and why did they enjoy (maybe even dislike) this book. Did they buy it? Did someone give it to them? Who knows? Certainly not me. There is no way for me to know anything other than what is written in the book. This is why I've decided to write a short story for each book I find about the people named inside the cover. Thank you to my dad for giving me this idea and for being one of the reasons I love being creative. Enjoy!
sincerely, kennedy k.☆
