Avoiding ignorant, revengeful ex-boyfriends, treading through potentially toxic friendships, and harboring scandalous, reputation-ruining secrets were the last things seventeen-year-old Candace Graham expected to be doing her senior year of high school. To make matters worse, Candace has to somehow convince her completely oblivious best friend Devin that she is the one for him, even if she has to barrel through a brocade of his groupies to do so.

What started out as an innocent, hormonal attraction has spiraled out of her control, and Candace doesn’t know how much longer her less than neighborly feelings for Devin can stand being trapped in the friend zone. But with all of the other bits of drama grasping for her attention, how is she supposed to pour her heart out without risking their friendship?

Eighteen-year-old Devin Young is convinced that the girls out here ain’t loyal, and he has the heartbreak-free track record to prove it. One of the drum majors of his school’s marching band, he is determined to make the week of homecoming festivities unforgettable. But when a notorious blast from his past surges into his present and strings him along like a puppet, Devin finds himself torn between a former flame and the only loyal chick he’s ever known, Candace.

Now with both of them fearing the possibility of losing each other forever, will Candace’s rampant desire for her best friend’s heart force her to come clean? Or will Devin ever open up his eyes and overstep the platonic boundary line?
