"Where are you off to in a hurry?" He questioned in a light tone. But even then, the natural bass of his voice was still evident.

My number one rule was to never indulge Betas or Alphas because a lot of the time, they read it like a green light. Like they had a chance. But I couldn't find it in myself to simply ignore him.

"Work."

And as per usual, the Beta visibly relaxed a fraction and dared get closer. He only stopped again when he noticed the twitch of my lips that I hardly noticed myself. Even then, the scowl still grew on my lips.

"This early?" The Beta questioned. A small smile made the corners of his lips turn upward. His eyes held barely contained curiosity as he patiently waited for me to respond. When I didn't, however, he pressed on, not getting the clue. "What's your name?"

For a moment longer, longer than I would have liked, I glared at the Beta before speaking. "I'm late."
