The rules are changed in this world. Humanity has no place, no definite home. There are a few pockets left, but not many. Those who were killed are now wolfish creatures referred to as mutts. Very few, such as Joseph, are capable to resist being bitten enough to be human. A majority advocate for the extinction and the conversion of every human, including Markus

Yet, some mutts look down on the humans in pity, and offer them home in their various "packs." Like Prometheus, Markus brings certain gifts and skills to the wolves, whether they like it or not. Yet, not all accept him for who he is.

Every night is a struggle to survive. One cannot be too careful. Some closest to one can be traitors
