She's trying to escape a dark past. He's threatening to pull her back in.

"You messed up, little bird. So now, you're going to fix it."
He smirked at me, stepping closer, so that his face was inches from mine. I could smell nicotine on his breath, and I struggled to focus my thoughts, my heart pounding in my chest.
"How?" I asked breathlessly.
He leant down, and his lips brushed my ear. Then, in a whisper, he spoke, and shivers ran down my spine.
"You're going to work for me."

Robin McCarthy has been trying really hard to be the good girl. Stay out of trouble, hold a steady job, and keep her head down. But when an old debt rears it's ugly head, Robin falls back on some unconventional ways to get cash.
In the process, she pisses off the underground king of the city, ruler of all things shady, Tyson Rhodes.
Now forced to work off a debt on two fronts, Robin has to make a choice.
Does she really want to be the good girl anymore? Or is the darkness just too intoxicating?
Cameron Black is the school's nice guy. He has the perfect life. The perfect girlfriend, the perfect family. Nothing bad has ever really happened to him.
Annabel Carter is quite the opposite. Nothing in her life is going her way. She's in a gang for a multitude of reasons and the only family she has is her twin brother.
They don't even go to the same school. They're different on so many levels, it's ridiculous.
So what happens when Cameron goes on a run after having the first real problem of his life and stumbles into the warehouse that Anna and her friends use as their headquarters? And what happens when they recruit Cameron to expose the people at his school for the awful people they are?

"So... basically you're telling me to figure out my friends' secrets and then stab them in the back by telling you guys so you can quote-unquote 'take them down'?" I said in a clipped tone.
I don't really like being rude to anyone, especially not to the leader of a gang, seeing as I want to keep my life. This though was kind of absurd.
"I mean... if you want to live of course," Tyson said trying to scare me. And let me tell you, it definitely worked. I still didn't understand why he even cared. I mean don't gangs only care about drugs and money?
