A city filled with petty crime, a police force incapable of going beyond their parameters, and a man who sees everything there is to see with a single glance. This is the world Dr. John Walker found himself in after being dishonorably discharged from the army and relocating to the quaint city of Newfield, Oregon.

The good doctor had done everything in his life that was advised of him: he graduated from college, spent some time in graduate school, and followed that with two years overseas. But upon returning home to live with his brother's family, he found that the normal life of a civilian would no longer suit him. How fortunate was he to come into contact with the "consulting detective" of Newfield, a man by the name of Sheridan Hull. Working alongside the detective, Walker is given an opportunity to see more to a city than the daily ongoings of the average citizen. He learns to observe rather than see.

But despite the first mysteries being rather commonplace, sinister souls reveal themselves in the darkness, working under an organization called Chimaera and following the orders of a cloaked man who goes by the moniker of Moriarty. With chaos looming and potential destruction on a colossal scale hanging on the horizon, it's left in the hands of the clever detective and the honorable doctor to keep the world turning.
