The way it's all such a cliché makes Lisa want to claw her eyes out. Rosie is her best friend and roommate. She was a double major for fine art and music. She was blonde and dainty and fair and tall and slender. She wore high waisted pants and skinny jeans and stan smiths and sweaters with only the front tucked in. She refuses to wear her prescription glasses and only wears it in their dorm room, when her eyes are too exhausted for contacts. And Lisa was the photography major and dance troupe captain who was absolutely smitten with her.

Sophia never imagined her freshman year at Stanford would start like this-thousands of miles from her home in Greece, recruited to study her art full for one of the most competitive programs in the country. Shy by nature but quietly outgoing, she's ready to embrace whatever this new chapter brings... even if she's not sure where she fits in. Then there's Mai-the team captain. Cool, unreadable, and intimidating without even trying. With her expressionless demeanor and quiet authority, most mistake her silence for disinterest. But Mai is fiercely loyal to the game-and to the people she lets close. When an unexpected housing mix-up pairs these two opposites as roommates for the season, tension and curiosity ignite. As their worlds begin to overlap both on and off the court, walls start to break down-and something deeper begins to grow in the space between.
