Welcome to the United Nations of Caotri, certainly a place like no other. Many immigrants to this strange and rather remote part of the world are surely baffled by the way society has evolved here, as it is rather unique when compared to other bastions of civilization.

However, everything is not well at the moment. A borderline apocalyptic event commonly known as the Soul Surge has been ravaging the lands. What has caused this? The wilting and death of Altreezia. This has caused the cycle that had been preserved for millennia to come crashing down. Once someone dies they cannot go to their afterlife or be reincarnated. Only to add to the chaos, many a case of body swapping has been occuring with souls that have reached adolescence (With only a few cases being younger). This has caused many to be concerned, as this has thrown all places of dense population into chaos. However, this has been going on for long enough for many steps to have been put into place to settle things down considerably. This ranges from predicting when the next soul surge will take place, to creating magical jewelry that (While very VERY limited in supply and Insanely expensive) keep the soul bound to whoever the possessor of said jewelry is. These are normally gifted to those who are very high ranking nobles and those who are important in the process of healing Altreezia, as to more easily locate them if needed. However, this problem cannot be healed with those people alone. Able bodies of all skill sets and backgrounds are needed as well, and have been recruited from all over Caotri by the Elven founded and funded SSRP (Soul Surge Recuperation Program). You joined this group a relatively short time ago, and have just now gotten out of their basic training. Today is the day you get assigned and put into your parties, as well as get your first duties assigned. As you file into the SSRP building, you are handed a piece of parchment with a specific rune on it. Under the rune, is the word alpha.
