Set in a utopian society, mankind has transcended the entrapments of the human body, we've seamlessly perfected genetic manipulation and technology so that our bodies no longer fail us, we age at a significantly reduced rate, resistant to any illness, we've become almost immortal. We are also heavily augmented with technology, and we are plugged into a vast network that spans the numerous planets that we've developed for the expanding population under the control of "The Authority", a council of elders who've endured millennia and govern the Net and the society.
Our story follows Bastion, who's lived for about 100 years, but physically has only aged to about his 20s and is still considered in this society to be a "child", lives a seemingly normal life, he has a natural gift for manipulating genetics and is being trained at a facility to make this his life work exploring the limits of the human genome.
One day Bastion makes a discovery, one that could destroy his society as he knows it, one that shows that even in a perfect world, evolution is the enemy.
