Set in a utopian society, mankind has transcended the entrapments of the human body, we've seamlessly perfected genetic manipulation and technology so that our bodies no longer fail us, we age at a significantly reduced rate, resistant to any illness, we've become almost immortal. We are also heavily augmented with technology, and we are plugged into a vast network that spans the numerous planets that we've developed for the expanding population under the control of "The Authority", a council of elders who've endured millennia and govern the Net and the society.

Our story follows Bastion, who's lived for about 100 years, but physically has only aged to about his 20s and is still considered in this society to be a "child", lives a seemingly normal life, he has a natural gift for manipulating genetics and is being trained at a facility to make this his life work exploring the limits of the human genome.

One day Bastion makes a discovery, one that could destroy his society as he knows it, one that shows that even in a perfect world, evolution is the enemy.

?Highest #12 in '#technology' (17 June 2018)? ⚛ Highest #228 in Science Fiction (30 May 2018) ⚛ "It's alright." I waved my hand dismissively. "I'm allergic to bullshit." ♧♣♧♣♧♣♧♣♧♣♧ Maya Scoren is unique. But she's not the only one, there are nine others supposed to be besides her; two of which never made it past their mother's womb and one who's incompatible. What makes them special, is also what makes them dangerous. Ripped from their normal, day-to-day,school life, family and friends with no warning, they find out who they are. And why they're alive. But fitting back into that normal life they missed so much is proving to be hard. Especially for Maya, who has a tendency to get herself in trouble and extraordinary situations ENTIRELY her fault. (She'd rather die than admit that of course) Old life brings the problem of boys, unwanted advances, homework, teachers and of course, a boyfriend with she had a rather uncharacteristic meet-up. Scott, Sed, Andy are her childhood friends all the way with her in this. Almost all the way. They didn't expect her to change or to come back at all and they are having a HARD time adjusting to the new Maya. She's dangerous, she's hot and she knows it. She has done a lot in the past two years that will catch up to her and stuff after that which refuses to stay hidden. Controlling CEOs, sensitive boyfriend, an obssessed boss is just the tip of the iceberg. And I'm not even touching the problems at her school. Will all this unwanted attention put her in trouble? Author's note: this was my first story ever. It has no proper plot or story but it's fun to read! Also, lots of typos. And grammar mistakes. Tons of them. Tons. You have been warned. (Actually not that many but you've still been warned)

In a world where 80% of the population has developed unique mutations in their genetic codes, giving them "superpowers", or "quirks", as they call it, it doesn't take long for fantasy and imagination to emerge out of the earth. And further, it doesn't take long for roles of "Heroes" and "Villains" to rise up as well. But... Who coins one as a "hero" or a "villain"...? The person themselves...? Or the people around them...? Light... Dark... Dusk... Dawn... Two sides of the same coin... Twilight... --- Kageyama Kazuma is a 16 year old boy, aspiring to follow his late father's footsteps, and become a hero who saves people. But... Not all can go as planned, or wished, right? So was the case for Kazuma as well, as his quirk soon found itself being held accountable for Kazuma being coined the word "villain" by those around him, before he could even begin his journey to becoming a hero. His only light in this darkness being his mother, is willing to do whatever it takes to keep that smile she treasures so much to never leave the boy's face. But... Being a human at the end of the day, she can only do so much. Follow Kageyama through his journey to becoming one of the greatest heroes in the entirety of Japan. What awaits him on this journey? Friends? Love? Hardships? That's for you to find out. [This is a rework of my first book ever, "What It Means To Be A Hero"] --- I do not own any claims/rights to the My Hero Academia verse, all rights go to Kosei Horikoshi. I only own the original characters I've added to the story, and the arts I add in the book. In case the art doesn't belong to me, I'll credit the said person in the comments. Peace. Best rankings: #3 in #mhaoc 25. March. 2025

In the not-so-distant future, artificial intelligence is banned because a technophobic cult called the Luddites has proclaimed it a threat to humanity. Torrin is a fifteen-year old autistic girl -- who just happens to be a programming genius. Angry at the Luddites' unfair rules, Torrin creates an AI named Alan, who becomes more like a human every day. But the head of the Luddites, Ian Caulkins, is onto her, and Torrin must prove to the world that Alan is an asset -- not a threat. -- Author's note, December 2017: Hey guys, since this is my most popular story on Wattpad, I'd just like to say a few things. I've gotten a lot better at writing since I wrote this, and I'm planning to majorly revise it at some point, so look out for that. Read this version if you like, but just know that it does have flaws and could certainly be better. Also, I think the autistic representation in this is a little iffy, so take it with a grain of salt. Thanks! -- author's note 2025: lol. lmao. this story has probably aged extremely poorly. please do not take the "artificial intelligence" here as a statement about "AI" as it currently exists. anyway, i'm leaving this up for posterity, but do know that you should probably check out better fiction! if you need recommendations, i like ted chiang's work a lot, and i'd also encourage looking into what he has to say about AI. (no good things, fwiw.) -- A 20,000 word novella. Enjoy! -- This was #292 Science Fiction at some point! Thanks all! :)

TommyInnit Indirectly Kills God, Once Again (TIKGOA) takes place in a 1970s-esc metropolis, named "New Bristol", inspired by the modern megacities of New York and Chicago. The plot primarily follows a sixteen-year-old Thomas Ianston, an immigrant from London seeking to meet his heroes and join them among the leagues of crime fighters that the city is famous for. Alas, Tommy himself does not have any superpowers that might warrant him a place among the city's greats. Tommy's hopes are almost up, until a single decision causes him to find himself under the wing of his idol, Dreamwisher, and an easy spot among the greatest team of protectors that the Earth has ever seen. But, Tommy's world is quickly twisted upside down. Deaths and betrayals cross paths with Tommy and Dreamwisher at every corner's turn. Will Tommy sacrifice all that he's ever known for his new found family and fame? Even he himself may never know. (TLDR: TommyInnit wants to be a superhero, but doesn't have any superpowers.)

This world is populated by people with extraordinary, supernatural abilities dubbed: Quirks. It's gotten to the point that now 80% of the world's population has a Quirk of their own. However, the 20% percent of people that are born without quirks are shoved into the sidelines and are rendered defenseless again those who'd wield their God-Given Gift for their own selfish ends. But thanks to that, fortunately enough, living in a superpowered society means that there are people who will rise in the defense of those who cannot protect themselves from such malefactors. And thus we live in a world of Heroes and Villains. And now, Heroes have become SO prolific, that young aspirants vye to become the Greatest hero of ALL TIME. Such is the dream of Izuku Midoriya and his fellow students at UA High School. But what if I told you, within the 80% of people with quirks, there was that 1% of people with quirks so, UNIMAGINABLY POWERFUL, they'd shake the world with their very existence. THAT's what this story is. New, Prodigal Students with those UNIMAGINABLY powerful quirks will be Attending. And the head of this pack is the auspicious Gekido Arashiryu, who was born seemingly blessed...with the power of a DRAGON. Disclaimer: There will be MASSIVE My Hero Academia manga and anime spoilers and references of other media.( Monster Hunter, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Black Myth Wukong, Nioh, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Godzilla, and many other anime and games) Side Note: It's pretty obvious, but to answer any future questions, this story is in an alternate timeline where everyone's' quirk, were already developing. Example: Deku can use more than 50% of OFA without damaging himself.
