"Rainsford, please don't leave, " Zaroff whispered, tracing his fingers along Rainsford's' wrist. 
"I'm sorry I can't." Rainsford started to turn away but Zaroff grabbed his wrist and spun him around. Their faces were now inches apart. 
Rainsford could feel his heartbeat quicken. The room felt cramped, hot air mingled between their slow breathes. As they began edging closer the tip of Rainsford's nose barely brushed against Zaroff's, sending excited shivers down his spine. Rainsford cleared his throat and began to speak again, his voice just barely audible. 
"Zaroff I have to tell you something important. It's about t-" 
But before he could finish the door to the bedroom jolted open. The men jumped away in surprise as a tall figure stood in the doorway.
It was Ivan, Zaroff's brooding manservant. He was back from the dead. This time, with a strong thirst for revenge.
