This is the first chapter of a book I'm working on, I thought I'd get a little preview out there so I could get some feedback hopefully. So far it's about a 17 year old kid named Jasen who wakes up in a strange land called Dystopia. Dystopia is under siege by forces known as the shadow legion, who are led by a figurehead known only as the Shadow Dealer who is said to be the physical embodiment of fear. The council of Dystopia hope to use Jasen to fight their age old enemy, but will Jasen stay loyal to the people he barely knows as he begins to uncover the truth of the Shadow Dealer and the council of Dystopia?

The country is also in the midst of going to war with rival countries over what appears to be nonsense. He decides to go to a friends house to unwind and play video games. Their relaxation quickly turns frantic when unexplained explosions rock the neighborhood. A phone call from his friends dad who is stationed on a military base turns weird when he demands for them to get down into a unfinished bunker for safety. After spending days inside, they emerge from the bunker and quickly find out that the world is a different place. It is evident that a war has started but, they can not listen to what so-called leaders of the world have told them. they find out they have to survive on their own, where it seems like it's every man for themselves.
