"In this world, everyone has a guardian Ayakashi, they appear when one is in danger and stay with their chosen until they die. The guardian one receives is a part of 1 of 3 ranks, whisp (lowest), Spirit (Middle) and finally Lengendary (Highest)... By the age of at least 10, the guardian appears to their chosen if they haven't gone through a life or death situation. But... Somehow, I'm 16 and I haven't even gotten a glimpse at mine. Another but unfair thing about this world is that the rank of Yokai you have determines your rank in society and what job is available to you, if you marry someone in the same rank, below or above, you share each other's guardians and your rank is elevated. My parents both have Spirit level Ayakashi so we live in the outskirts of the legendary prefecture and I can go to an elite school but we gotta pay a lot for it...
