The old lady glanced at me.
"You know, she wasn't always like this. She used to be one do those girls that would make sure others around her were happy, even if that meant sacrificing her own. She would be nice to everyone, because she knew what it felt like to be sad and didn't want others to feel the same.
"She believed everyone had good in them, so she gave people second, third, fourth, and fifth chances, everytime having them walk all over her again and again."
"But not everyone is like that! I'M not like that," I said in a hushed tone. "Do you know what changed all that?"
"I assume she got tired of that. Lord knows she tried her best. That version wasn't the real her, though, but I don't believe this one is, either. Who knows kiddo, maybe you'll be the one to change that. Show her her true self."
She turned her head forwards to look at Rose, and after a while of thinking to myself, so did I.
