Society is made up of civilians that have strange, inked symbols imprinted on their face. The symbols on your face represent what kind of a person you are and begin to make an appearance from the age of ten. From then on a symbol is imprinted on your face every year on your birthday.
Unlike everyone else Adam Fowles is an anomaly; the only person living, who is seventeen, and isn't a part of the inked revolution.

*Currently undergoing some editing* A soulmate is someone that just gets you. It's a connection of minds, a mutual respect, an unconditional love and a total understanding. It's about being yourself and knowing, not only that person is following and understanding your thoughts, but is right there with you, side by side. Whenever your soulmate learns to write, one word appears on your body which is very close to your soulmate. The mark also appears in his/her handwriting and is light brown in color. If your soulmate dies, then the mark slowly fades away. When you meet your soulmate, the mark becomes black in color and you develop a special link with your soulmate. For some people, the soulmates feel each other's pain or they feel each other's emotions- happy and not-so-happy. But not in Annabeth's case. Read on to find out. My Soulmate (HoO/PJO AU)
When you turn 14, you get a tattoo that describes your soulmate. As you spend more time with them, it gets more detailed. But when you kiss your soulmate for the first time, you tattoo glows and shows their name. But this only happens when it is love and love only. (So if you just kiss someone to kiss them then your tattoo won't glow) As for your soulmate dying, your tattoo turns black and shows a small picture of them with their name under. After three days it goes away and you never get another tattoo. Disclaimer: I do not own the PJO or HoO characters. I wish I did though, but sadly that title belongs to Uncle Rick. I also do not own any songs, bands, brands, etc. Also I suck at descriptions. And my writing starts off kinda bad and super short but trust me, it gets better, so yeah. In the name of making everyone equal and to prevent what happened with our ancestors, we have created what will be known as the Founding Laws. 1. No markings or piercings are permitted. Every citizen will be issued the same clothing with the allowance of one fancy outfit. 2. Every family will have two children: one girl and one boy. The population must remain constant until our world has recovered. 3. Marriage is required for every young person by age 30. The cost of living will not increase more than 0.3%. 5. At birth, every citizen is required to receive a vaccine. This will prevent disease and early death. Failure to comply will result in death. When you're marked you have two choices; fight or die. Nance lives in the past, literally. Her city is a recreation of early twenty-first century society. To the outside world they're experiments, just rats running around a maze. In an impoverished future world, the city seems to be their only chance of finding where they went wrong, or so they say. Nance doesn't know the real purpose of her home, and she doesn't care. All she sees are the one hundred teenagers, just like her, who are killed every year in the barbaric ritual known as the marking. They tattoo your face and pit you against your peers, against the city. Nance doesn't know why, but it doesn't matter, because she's sixteen and it's her turn to be marked. **So I decided to replace the original story with the rewrite because they are pretty much exactly the same. Plus, it's a lot less complicated then having two separate books for the same story.** There is a * next to all rewritten chapters. THE ORIGINAL VERSION IS COMPLETE.
