In a not so distant future, every person on earth had seemed to just stop caring. Wherein the streets, rich suburbs, or even the rural areas of dust, hope has become stuck. They were content to drag on through their days as if watching paint dry on a wall.
People didn't care. About life, about dreams, about love. And they were sick of it but did they even care enough to try?

However when an announcement shakes the world, this all changes. It is revealed that leaders around the globe have made a fatal decision, one that signs away their entire existence. It is decreed that in order to spur the population into taking value of their time, they are shortening it; snipping every threaded second into 3 years, more or less depending on the individual's current age. Babies are drugged and people are rounded up like cattle.

And surprisingly it works.

Incredibly, the population steels itself, accepts the truth and lives. Lives better and faster than they ever had in years, in decades. There were renewals in peace, old feuds were set to rest and grudges were buried to the ground.
But it didn't work on Melvin and he finds every person he meets fly by like sand though his fingertips, lost in greater pursuits. He's the only one who's stuck. He's the only one left behind. ---------------------------
Anna Warde is a government scientist who is dedicated to directing the flow of drugs to keep the system balanced. She prides herself on her work as she helps keep it working like a well oiled machine; keeps the gears turning, the wheels rolling. When she and another scientist discover Melvin's unfortunate case, they are horrified and set to making it right.
Somewhere along the way, they fall down the tricky rabbit hole that is love and things get messy as priorities tangle and chaos ensues.
