As a new year start, Chara was convinced by his mother to move into the city with his brother, Asriel, and enroll in the college for his second year instead of taking online classes. Chara has never liked the city and despises the living people there, but he believes he has to learn how the world works in order to survive.
Asriel was thrilled to have Chara move in the same dorm as him and introduce him to his friends that he has in his classes. While moving his belongings, Chara comes across a stranger named Frisk, who is also new to the college and has just enrolled her first year. To the world, Frisk seemed to be just an ordinary student and a teachers pet, but Chara knew there is more to her. She seems too friendly and interesting, at least interesting enough to have caught Chara's attention. He just couldn't figure out her motives and what she was thinking. Soon he finds himself attached to Frisk when he least expected to. Already Chara regrets moving into the city, not knowing what else the world has in storage for him.
