Lance is fed up. In all his years, he has only known life inside the Castle of Lions. As he described it, a prison cell disguised as an extravagant home for the royal. He longs to get away, but his newly crowned sister, Allura, won't have it. So, against her younger brother's wishes, she hires a bodyguard to keep him 'safe' inside the castle. But, the new guard turns out to be... odd. Not quite Altean, not quite Galran. Compared to Lance and the rest of the empire, one could say Keith has many strange differences. *** "So..." Allura continued, clearing her throat. Her neck likely aced from looking up for so long. "I know you're not going to like this news, but... It's for the kingdom's best... It's for your best. The Dark Crystal
In a world, a long, long time ago, lived a crystal. The lands flourished and bloomed until the crystal cracked, the shard lost to time. There came two races with the crystal cracked, the Skeksis and the Mystics. With both races dying, only one could save them. His name was Keith, the last known living Gelfling. He was the chosen one. And he has no clue. NOTE: This takes place in the Dark Crystal universe but still has my own twists to it. I'm basing this story solely off the movie and my own imagination. A few tidbits of knowledge that would make this story make a lil more since are: -This one-shot is only based off the movie, not the comics nor the upcoming (as of 2019) show. -All of the species named here (Gelfling, Skeksis, Mystics, Podlings) are all more humanoid than what is canon in the Dark Crystal movie but you can still image them as you wish. -The Skeksis are the Galra. (The Mystics AREN'T the Alteans though.) Image the Skeksis as more Galra-like or more Skeksis-like, do what fits your imagination. "S-Stay, p-please," Keith mumbled, hiding his face in his pillow. Lance nodded climbing beside the small boy. Keith turned to face him, his face flushed as he looked at Lance, "T-Thanks." "For what?" Lance whispered, his breath close enough for Keith to touch. "B-Being by my side," Keith moved closer to Lance, closing the small distance between them, "I-I thought y-you'd all hate me." "Why would you think that?" "Ha," Keith let out a bitter laugh, "I'm half Galra. I share half of my DNA with a race who has killed countless civilizations, not to mention they kidnapped Shiro and Katie's family, and they-" "Exactly, "they". You didn't help them do any of that, right?" Lance touched Keith's forehead with his own, drinking in the feel of his soft skin. "N-No but-" "No "buts", you didn't choose to be born part Galra, and you have more than proved you're a paladin." "Allura and Coran hate me," Keith mumbled, trying to find some way to prove that they did indeed hate him. "No they don't, just give them some time to adjust," Keith turned around, pulling Lance's arm around him, "They have to get used to you. None of us hate you, not the smallest bit."
