For many millennia Dreams and Nightmares have been in conflict. Causing not only the dreaming world to suffer, but the waking world as well.
As of now the two sides have come to an impasse. The nightmaren led by the mysterious facsimile Known a Selph, have grown silently, but no less deadly. The nightopian being led by the former Nightmaren known as NiGHTS, with his Brother Reala tentatively by his side, who find themselves without the power or resources to breach the wall of nightmare and find out what they are planing.
