parallel lines. We have all learned this in math. Parallel lines are 2 lines in which will never meet.
There was once 2 souls that loved each other so deeply that you cannot tear their relationship apart. This then was discovered by the Gods and Goddesses and gifted them everlasting life in return for showing people how love really works. But one of them betrayed the other. As the two souls were one, both of them were punished.
They will never, ever meet each other in their next lives. Not a single hair strand, silhouette, or a whisper. The two souls that were once inseparable were now like parallel lines.
They never meet. unless... these parallel lines become transverse.
Will they be able to meet each other in their next life? Or will they meet but stopped and opposed by the universe itself?

fact: this story was inspired by my math teacher who once was teaching a lesson about parallel lines, and kept repeating that these 2 lines will never meet. unless it becomes transverse.
