What you see in the mirror is not what should define you, but no one ever reads a book without first judging the cover. In a world where the way someones looks can damn them, Vidya struggles with her very real reality. At a young age, she is scouted and taken away from her family to become what society calls a Doll. Dolls come from diverse, but indiscriminate backgrounds. Regardless of race, gender, historic ethnicity, or social class (rich to poor), very few individuals are able to escape the selection process. After extraction, people like Vidya are forced to follow strict disciplines, become artificial - in personality, body, and even name. Once properly polished and pruned into such an individual, these people are either sold on the market or put on display in zoos, like exotic animals. Rarely are they ever allowed to lead normal lives, seek partners and get married, or raise their own children. They have no freedom and their wants are obsolete. All for simply being beautiful.Tous Droits Réservés
