So when I finally wrenched my gaze from a silky golden retriever to my left, Lane was right in front of me. I jumped.

"You want me to prove it?" he asked, his mouth twisting into a smirk. And then it hit me.

There's not much Evelyn Winchester can do regarding the ever singleness of her mother and grandmother. In fact, it was hardly her choice to be shipped halfway across the country to her grandma when times get too harsh and forced to meet a brand new set of friends. The chances of her promises of staying away from boys and not falling in love remaining are falling more and more inferior. Which should she follow - the shadow of her mother's past mistakes or her own take on life? What is the right thing to do when both sides are determined to prove the other wrong? And most importantly, who is that mysterious person who seems to show up a couple times too many?

I felt the bed dip as he sat down on the other side but I focused solely on my task until I was done. "This is a pillow barrier. Meaning, you don't breach this side of the pillows." I instructed, my voice firm. "What if I don't want anything between us?" Phoenix said in a husky voice, and I risked a glance. Bad choice. His eyes were dark and his gaze was on my lips, to my chest, then back to my lips. "Eyes up here, buddy." I snapped the third time his eyes went down to my chest. All he did was turn off the lights. When it was dark, he whispered," Can't I admire what is mine?" I had no answer, and turned on my side. He sighed. Despite taking two naps today, I was out cold the minute my head hit my pillow. I could only hope that in the morning, the pillow barrier was still there. ***** Adira has a secret, one she would do anything to protect. Shannon Dugray and Quincey Mason are like cat and dog. However, there may be something more behind their constant arguing. Shannon has sworn she would never admit it, as he belongs to her best friend, Tiffany, a fact that everyone in their school is aware of. Choosing friendship over love, she decides to focus her attention on Orson, the new student. But, no matter how hard she tries, the only one she is drawn to is the rough, annoying, yet irresistible, Quincey Mason. However, after witnessing Tiffany betray her, Shannon realizes that her dear friend was not worth the sacrfice. Her heart breaks because for Tiffany, she uselessly insulted and pushed away her true love. Can she still turn back to Quincey or is the bridge that once connected the imperfectly perfect couple destroyed forever? _________ BLURB: Lying on the grass, one leg straight, the other folded. Quincey was covering his eyes with his arm. I came closer to him, not as scared as I thought I was going to be because he looked calm, approachable. I crouched next to him and watched as he breathed peacefully. At first I wanted to just leave his phone next to him and go, but it could get stolen if he didn't notice it was there. The best thing to do was to simply give it to him. After boosting myself for a little while, I poked him lightly with my index finger. "Hmm," he growled without moving an inch. "Do I look like someone who wants to be disturbed?" His voice was harsh, almost mean. My heart pounded as I felt my throat squeeze. "Oh...," I whimpered sounding like a crying seal. He removed his arm from his eyes, and looked at me like I was some kind of specter, the last person he expected to see. "Shannon?" Quincey furrowed his brows in disbelief. He sat up so quickly I flinched. I immediately stood up, my legs itching to escape, forgetting why I came to begin with. "Wait," I felt his palm graze my fingers failing to grab me before I ran off.
