Betrayal and Lies

Fourteen-year old Kyla Brooks has seen some disturbing stuff in her life. Being the Police Chief's daughter in the small town of Larkwood, she has seen everything from a high-stakes arrest to a hostage situation, but nothing compares to the dramatic and terrible crime she witnessed in the woods one day when she had been nine: the kidnapping and near-murder of a local boy she hadn't even known lived near her.

Now four years later, Kyla is eager to put what she had witnessed behind her and move on with her life. But all of her plans change when she finally meets the boy whose life she had saved four years ago, who had now grown into a tall, handsome young man, as well as two of the very people who had tried to kill him so long ago. Now, in the face of a new threat that she now has to face, as well as a shocking betrayal neither of them saw coming, Kyla begins to question what she knows about the case binding them and what her role was in the murderous scheme.
