"If I left today, would you wait for me?" Her eyes gleamed with unshed tears as she looked at the man she grew accustomed to.
"Why would I wait for you?" His heart squeezed in his chest as he watched her crumbled before his eyes, "I have no reason to wait for you."
He watched her body, it heaved and he did everything in his power to not hold onto her so she didn't fall. He wanted to hold her in his arms and tell her he didn't mean anything he just said.
"If you have no reason to wait for me then there's just one more thing to do," his heart squeezed harder and pounded in his chest, his instincts told him to stop her, "I, Obediah Crown Rose; Original Mockingbird, and First Leader, accept the rejection of Jason Axel McCarty, First Sired Lycan and Leader of Wolves."
His entire body fell to the floor as his heart walked away with the woman he was meant to love for his eternity.
