In short, nobody truly wanted to hurt those creatures. But they were ordered to in fear of feeling retaliation or worse death for not obeying. Though, Siren seemingly survived all of that if he's here out there experiencing the apocalypse first-handed. And severally unlucky unlike the other heroines in Inverse.
