This is the 2nd book of the Terminator.
This time Skynet sent a Terminator to terminate the Leaders of the Resistance while they were children.
But luckily they were able to send a protector for them. by using the same thing they did last time but with no human brain this time. He was a full Terminator that looked like Mike but had no memories of the human Mike and what happened between Jay and Mike.
His mission was to protect them.
