There are tales of an immortal cat named Bastet. She was once worshipped as the Goddess of Protection, Childbirth, Ointments and Perfume, warfare, fertility among other things, but she is remembered as the Goddess of Cats. However, centuries and millennia have passed, and Bastet and the other Egyptian gods are no longer worshipped. The world is a different place now. While she still calls herself a Goddess, most people no longer see her that way.

Bastet awakens in the ruins of Bubastis, a city that was built in her honour. Bastet gets a job making perfume, since that's what she was good at. She lives a somewhat happy life. However, once she finds out that a statue of herself that she held very dear to her was stolen by the British Empire long ago and now resides in the British Museum while Egypt only gets a replica of the statue, she vows to have her revenge by breaking into the Museum and taking her statue back to Egypt!
