'The first thing I saw on that blessed night was light. The moon shone silver, blinding me. I began wailing frantically, full of panic. What was happening! Suddenly, a long grey tail scooched me toward a warm belly, where I could suckle, and I heard a calm, gentle voice murmur loving whispers. The voice was my mother's. I lay there, my eyes closed tightly, and listened to the voices. I couldn't really understand them, until my mother spoke directly to me. She called me something. I waited to hear it again, this time paying close attention to their mewing. "Moonkit," my mother said proudly. "My beautiful newborn, your name will be Moonkit."
