Historical
They usurped her father. They stole her throne. They slaughtered her family. After narrowly escaping death, the former princess of the now disgraced Northern Aztalon Nation makes her way back into the kingdom that should've been hers with only one goal: Revenge. As one of the one hundred Privileged competing to be the next Queen, with each of the other ninety nine girls vying for the Prince's attention, her only intention was to stay at the palace long enough to infiltrate the monarchy and attain revenge. However, the Prince's relentless pursue of her slowly begins to change those very intentions. Messy visits from her past results in an entanglement of courtly politics, bloodshed, punishment and an emotional hurricane as she struggles with her morals and her heart. As her past clashes with her future, she has to decide what is more important to her: love or revenge? NOTE: Although this story heavily draws inspiration from real life monarchies, it is set in a completely fictional kingdom. Therefore, you may see a mixture of western and imperial traditions and customs included in this story. Also, I have done basic research to ensure that the story is as factually correct as it can be, however I don't spend hours on research as this book is set in a purely fictional world, so please keep an open mind. In a kingdom where duty outweighs desire, alliances are forged in marriage, and power is a game played in shadows, the noble houses of Harvanser and Kon weave an intricate web of ambition, betrayal, and legacy. At the heart of this tale stands Isabel Harvanser, the cast-aside daughter of King Louis Brail. Once the cherished heir to the throne, she is now stripped of her title and future, Isabel harbors a single, burning vow-to reclaim what was stolen from her. But as she navigates the treacherous politics of nobility, she begins to realize that power is not simply given-it must be taken. Alongside Isabel's story is the story of her family. Her maternals figures, once radiant and ambitious young noblewomen attempt to play the courtly game with ease. Their paths are destined to end, and their fates tangled in a battle of wits, will, and whispered alliances. As noble daughters are bartered for power and kings secure their legacies through blood and marriage, Isabel must decide who she will become-a pawn in the hands of those who rule or a queen in her own right. A Single Rose is a gripping tale of ambition, family, and the cost of power. For in a world where crowns are won through cunning defeats, and love is a luxury few can afford, only the ruthless will rise. Will Isabel carve her own destiny, or will she be buried beneath the weight of duty and betrayal? One thing is certain-she will not go quietly. Notes: The title of Lord Baron is given to those who rules a region of land in the ruler of the country's name. So the king is the ruler of the entire country, and a lord Baron is the ruler of a designated region within that country.
