The only things left in the carriage were a pocket watch, an empty leather bag, and three drops of blood by the window.

After three years working with the Crymson military, Meryn thinks she has her life put together. Her father, sisters, and younger brother Nathaniel are safe, she is making a difference, and she has found love with one of the queen's most trusted generals. Then her fiance tells her Nate has gone missing from his carriage. The only signs of him they could find are his pocket watch, bag, and three drops of blood, which may or may not be his. 

Meryn resolves to find out what happened to her brother and--hopefully--rescue him from whatever the kingdom's enemies have planned. To do so, she must sacrifice the life she has built for herself and establish a new one in the rival army. If she's lucky, she will solve the mystery and save Nate. If she's not, an mistake may cost both of their lives.

All I wanted from tonight was to sneak out of the ball to read in the castle's grand library and suddenly the prince is guiding me to safety even though he's the one they're after. In the morning we find out that the Light of the Realms was stolen and the castle is on lock down. All the guests from the ball must be tested to see who committed the crime and to top it off the Light of the Realms was what kept this kingdom safe and without it armies are moving in. Will we find the Light of the Realms before it is to late? Will the prince be ready to lead this kingdom into war if he has to? This is a sweet middle grade/ young adult romance. It is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Warning: This is a rough draft! So there will be spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. There are probably parts in the story that don't make sense, need to be changed, or characters that are acting out of character.
