Annemin ismimi öfke ile bağırmasına kulak asmadan koşmaktan nefes nefese kalmış minik bedenim ile bahçe kapısına vardım. Fakat unuttuğum bir şey vardı. Ben henüz 7 yaşındaydım ve bahçe kapısının kilidi epeyce yüksekteydi. Annem benim aksine koşarak nefes nefese kalmış olduğum mesafeyi yürüyerek hızlıca kapatmıştı. Gözlerimden akan tuzlu sıvıyı fark etmiş olmalı ki kollarını sıkıca bana sardı. Buruk bir ses tonuyla konuştum.
-O, artık bizimle olmayacak değil mi anne ?
Annem sarmış olduğu kollarını gevşeterek yüzüme odaklandı ve bana muzipçe gülümsedi. Artık sinirli değildi ve yüzündeki şefkat beni rahatlatmıştı.
