When Polaris was a little girl, she watched the first space probe reach the star system of Alpha Centauri. Growing up, she dreams of one day being able to travel to its planets, unravelling its mysteries. This goal becomes her life's purpose, and every choice she makes in the hopes that it will take her one step closer. Many years, obstacles, and sacrifices later, only one step separates her from her destination. But could it be, that she was always closer than she realized?
This is the journey of the Tellus XII manned mission to Alpha Centauri. The mission will bring man even further into the universe as well as the future; and even closer to answering the lingering question: Are we alone?
Tellus is my first go with the science fiction genre, and I honestly spend more time researching than actually writing, but the science is probably still going to be off. So please bare with me. Also, any comments and critiques will only help improve my writing, so don't be shy - share your thoughts.

|WATTYS 2022 WINNER - HORROR| Shawn, a convicted criminal, never thought she'd see the sun again, let alone call another star system her home. When she's offered an out from her prison sentence, she embarks on a dangerous interstellar expedition along with 18 of Earth's most intelligent criminals. Their task is to set up a base on a supposedly habitable planet and prepare it for colonization. Although the planet has liquid water and a breathable atmosphere, it is believed to host only microbial life. However, upon arriving, Shawn and the rest of the colonists learn that assumption was grossly incorrect. In a brutal attack from rampaging wildlife, everyone but Shawn and four other colonists are killed. The years came and went. Earth is no longer the only planet out there, and adventures are only just beginning for Aurora's crew. Bessie Marvin didn't think she would be selected to join the Aurora. After all, as a freshly graduated agriculture bioengineer, she lacks the experience most of those in her position hold. So, why would a government send someone like her out to the great unknown? The answer comes sooner then she thinks when their ship crash lands at their destination, a water exoplanet with little land in sight. Orion has always wondered if there was more beyond the glowing lights of his world. This idea pulls him away from his tiny reef and the ocean's comfortable currents, creating a fissure between him and his family. When a strange creature crash lands onto his tiny island, Orion knows this is his chance to finally tame this growing curiosity once and for all. However, meeting Bessie Marvin and falling in love was far from his plans. With the world between the two of them collided, there's no way to go back how things once were. Now, they will have to navigate cultural differences from both space and ocean if they wish to stay together throughout the growing tension between the two sides. With time running out, Bessie and Orion will have to decided if they're willing to stand their ground or give in to the pressures of the ocean's depths. At the end of the day when the sun goes down we are still the murderers who took the lives of hundreds and sometimes thousands. We are still the ones who have orphaned children. They start to receive aid from a planet known as Orion A in the Orion Binary system. The people on Cambaar start to wonder if they really are on the planet of Cambaar. Someone is keeping secrets and they might decide the fate of the Colony. The plan to end the war just might work but it is the most controversial topic in history. The people of Cambaar split into two sides over the final battle. Lorelei still doesn't believe it will work. As the war rages forward relationships unravel. Sanity is lost. And blood is spilt across the forbidding land.
