CRINGE WARNING! First book I ever wrote on here!! -- "Sometimes the person who you are willing to take a bullet for is the person behind the gun." I stood peering over the cold lifeless body that lay before my eyes. I had always thought of death the enemy, but right now, I blessed it upon the person who is now at peace. Sometimes you don't need to be the smartest, or the fastest, but you do need to be wisest. They say the blood runs deeper than water, and I believe it, because even though the people that we love can turn on us and begin to hate us, they are only human, meaning that soon they will begin to see how short life really is and how it is not to be wasted. People who seem perfect and they look like they have no floors'; they are the people who are suffering, like I was. But I found my savior in the most uncommon place. He was able to look through my mask, he saw the cracks, and tried to fix the broken girl that hid away deep inside the girl who only wanted to be seen as 'fine'. I slowly began to find comfort and safety in him, and I did the same to him. We were two broken people becoming whole. Someone once said when you pass, if you can count your true friends on one hand you are beyond lucky, and I even though I did not like the person that lay before me, I know that he once had true friends, including me. I'm a 17 year old girl who has suffered more than any other, beginning to believe that 'Hope' was just another word the people throw around. Until I fell in love with a badboy. She looks up at me, taking a step forward and smiling slightly, "How can I ever get hurt when I have you here to protect me?" "But you could have gotten hurt," I murmur softly, hanging my head and feeling my shoulders drop, the tension seeping from my body. "No. Stop," She cuts me off sternly but tenderly, "Don't talk like that, Reece. I'm okay, you're okay, we're okay," She speaks softly, reaching her hand up to gently brush her thumb over my cheek, just under the cut that's there. "We're okay," I repeat, taking a small step closer to her. She nods with a small smile, moving her hand down from my cheek and instead placing the palm of her hand on my chest, right over my heart. I know she can feel how fast my heart is beating. I just don't know why it's doing that. ~ Reece Carter is the bad boy of Northwood High. He smokes and he fights. He has countless tattoos covering his body. And he doesn't care about anything or anyone else. Layla Stevens is your average seventeen year-old girl, just trying to get through high school, with the friends she loves and doing the things she loves. HOW TO MAKE DIAMONDS

11 parts Ongoing

(HTMD - Short story with somewhat sensitive content) "Seats taken." "Yeah sure, I'll leave when your many buddies arrive to fill them." Sarcasm, her favorite form of expression. She's no stranger to annoying popular girls trying to diminish her. School bad boys were no different. He had the looks, the attitude, probably some disgusting stories under his belt, and a few notches on his bedpost, but she was previously known as the school's slut - before becoming the one you should pity if you didn't want to look like a heartless monster -, that's enough to teach someone some surviving high school tricks. And the number of dumb comments thrown at her daily gave our beautiful girl a backbone and smart mouth that Jade wasn't scared to use. Moody, annoyed, witty, and rude was almost her default mode in situations like these. But she was still new, she didn't fully know the ropes and the ins and outs of this school. She didn't know Kyle and Kyle didn't know her. He was stunned. Curious about the only person since that particular day in sophomore year to dare say a word back to him. After all, sending his girlfriend's brother to the hospital was enough to scare all but Carter away. In fact, if it wasn't for Miss Maya, her hidden favoritism, and knowledge of the true reason why the fight happened in the first place, he would have been expelled on the spot.
