What if Merlin lived in a world where he lived as a ghost in the background?
Or
What if Merlin actually was from an alternate dimension, which was similar but still different from the Camelot that we know? He lived out his life and was reborn in our dimension, and became what we know him as with all the knowledge from his old life.
Or
What if Merlin was once a young boy who lived to read about the knights of the round table? One day with his trusty boom he entered into his grandfather's library in the attic, and an accident was put in charge of managing the dimensions just like his grandfather.
Or
What if it was all of these and more as Merlin lives multiple lives across time?

"But the question was, is this possible? Am I really in the story? But how? And why?" A tragedy occurred in Gauri's life and her idea of happiness and 'living life' to the fullest changed drastically. That's when she came across an old diary in the new house that she recently shifted into, to run from the memories of her past and start a new life. She felt that the story was calling out to her in weird ways because she kept going back to it, re-reading it multiple times, and feeling the heartbreak and extreme traumatic emotions all over again. Then, one day, she gets into an accident and finds herself in a world she didn't recognise, only to later realise that she may or may not have entered another world - The world she was reading about in the diary!! The world she knows because she has read it multiple times, but also the world she doesn't know because it was supposed to be fiction! Her only consolation was meeting the man she had been crying over for the past year. Would she be able to save the man from his inevitable destiny, or does she have to leave behind the man who made her feel things she didn't know were possible? I got the inspiration for this story from a similar oneshot on Fanfiction.net by Aeon The Dimensional Girl if the user wishes for me to take this one down I will, however I will point out that I expanded on the concept and definitely made it my own. Originally gonna be a one shot, but ended up being too long for a one shot. Merlin returns to Camelot after Arthur dies and gets banished by Gwen. He goes to sit by the lake of Avalon to wait for Arthur. Eventually Arthur returns. Merlin is not immortal in this version, however he is still extremely powerful. This is about their life together. Merlin and Arthur. There never was, nor would there be, a pair quite like those two. Arthur, the Once And Future king of Camelot; and Merlin, the greatest sorcerer of all time. In the very beginning, Merlin had realized his love for his master, but then his master had realized his love for Morgana's old handmaid, Gwen.
