Aria Carter hated her bright purple eyes, her white hair, and the strange smudge-like birthmarks on her cheeks. For her entire life, she has been ridiculed, tormented, and attacked by her classmates, those on the streets, and even by her mother and twin sister. The only friend she has is Cadmus, who is more of a sister than her birth sister. She always thought her life couldn't get any worse.

She was wrong...

Suddenly, her world is flipped upside-down, and for some strange reason, she is being hunted by strange hooded figures. The only person that seems to be on her side is her friend.

He is familiar to her, but yet, still different, as he is a soldier who hasn't quite left the battlefield. Standing so close to him, she can't help but try to steal a closer look at him, but she quickly realizes that this time- he is staring back at her, and he isn't even trying to hide it. His eyes are immediately locked on her at the first sight.
