Marabelle 'Mara' Stanford is a quiet, normal girl who just wants to finish her last year of high school in peace. She wants to go to college and earn a real job instead of working at the Ignite Cafe; her family business, but when her parents' die, she works hard to make her parents' dream come true.
One night, a wanted criminal tries to escape from the cops and runs inside the cafe to hide. Mara finds him, minutes after, hiding behind the cash register. Like a normal person, she didn't call 911, she stands staring at him holding a coffee mug above her head as a weapon and lets him go. But that's not all.
