Runaway Girl

The pain and anguish finally hit me. My family was dead. The first three must have been for my parents and the other two for my two dogs. I curled up in the ferns and look at the sky. I was surprised to see the sky lightening ever so slightly. Then my eyes went to the blood splattered ferns. It was getting harder to think about anything other than the dark red on the dark green. Even in the slight light from the moon I could see the basic outlines and darkened colors of things. The pain was dulling in my neck and the pain in my arm was just a slight throbbing. My eyes drooped and I felt the fear and pain slipping away. Nothing mattered anymore. Just the warm darkness surrounding me.
