Katherine had always wanted a baby. When she found out that after so many miscarriages she was unable, her husband Eric paid for fertility treatments hoping that this would do the trick. When that doesn't work Katherine begs for a surrogate but Eric refuses considering they're too pricy and saying 'It wasn't meant to be.' With Eric on the verge of getting a divorce, Katherine knows she has to act and act fast. So she does the only thing she can to have her own child. No one said it was legal.
