Note: This is a non-canon fan fiction that has Kian leaving Holby after his accident and developing a relationship with an original character. His drug addiction relapse, and the hospital shooting that leads to Jac leaving, don't happen. To give the story a nice closed ending, I added two bonus chapters. The second one features Jac.

Surgeon Kian Madani is silently struggling with a series of events that happened just over a year ago while working in the Darwin Ward; the death of an ex-girlfriend, his guilt over a colleague's mental break, and a serious accident that he was lucky to have survived. Not to mention the death of his wife Vanessa a few years earlier. In an effort to start over, he transfers to another hospital to work and tries to get his life back on track.

One late Friday night at a pub, he runs into a young woman named Haley who works at the hospital gift shop. After an emotional conversation, Haley tells Kian that she's been kicked out by her landlord due to late rental and is terrified of becoming homeless. Seeing that she's in no shape, Kian let's her crash at his flat and tries to help her deal with her neglectful father and her own unpredictable moods.

It doesn't take Kian long to realize that he is falling in love with Haley because she looks like Bea, his deceased ex-girlfriend, and is mentally fragile like his friend and colleague Jac. When Haley suddenly vanishes from his flat, Kian puts the pieces together and fearing the worst, heads out to find her. The destination ends being a place he'd thought he'd never return to, and the journey home will heal them of the past the both carry.

The Neurosurgeon's Paradox: The Cost of Healing by ShakespeareanCat
1 part Ongoing
Imagine the life of a world-renowned neurosurgeon, a woman whose unparalleled skills have saved countless lives, her name etched in medical history. However, in a tragic twist of fate, she loses her own memory in an accident. Once the master of the human mind, she now faces the impossible - relying on others to save her. As she spirals into despair, the realization hits: only she could have saved herself. The story unfolds over 12 chapters, blending psychological thriller elements with romance. It begins with the neurosurgeon in a state of near madness, grappling with the notion that her once-perfect life is slipping away. The narrative then shifts to a prequel, showcasing her meteoric rise to becoming the best in her field, performing groundbreaking surgeries. But her promising career is abruptly halted by a devastating accident, robbing her of her memories. As her condition deteriorates, a less-renowned male doctor defies the warnings of his peers to perform a high-risk surgery on her. Ridiculed for daring to take such a bold step, he perseveres - and succeeds. Over the course of several weeks, the surgeon begins to regain her memory. Upon learning that her life was saved by a relatively unknown doctor, her gratitude evolves into admiration, and soon, love. They marry and become a formidable duo in the medical world, achieving both personal and professional success. Their lives seem idyllic, especially with the arrival of their child. However, just when everything seems perfect, the husband dies under mysterious circumstances. The shocking death shatters her happiness, turning her world upside down. Consumed by grief, the female surgeon becomes obsessed with finding the truth behind her husband's death. The story ends on a suspenseful note as she embarks on a quest for vengeance, leaving readers wondering if she will find justice or be consumed by her own darkness. This unresolved conclusion hints at a possible continuation in a second season.

UPDATE: this book is getting published! While I'd love to keep the first draft fully on here, it's very different than the soon-to-be-published version (don't get me started on how problematic the first draft was). And by different, I mean different title, different synopsis and a lot of scenes have been either redacted or added. If you'd like to know more, I have frequent updates on my IG at @author_linguisticsaddict They say opposites attract. But that wasn't the case for Layla and Jaxon. BEFORE Both bear the deep scars of despair, and for that, they were unknowingly drawn to each other. After surviving a freak accident, Layla struggles to keep up with life and high school and move past the grief. Even though the cut ties, sleepless nights, and repeated blame almost makes it impossible. Until she meets Jaxon, someone who might just make life worth living again. But how can they find happiness with each other when they are both broken beyond repair? AFTER She will never see him again. After seizing a chance to escape from her past, Layla knows she's not going to make the same mistake she did three years ago.
