Lightningkit is born into to DarkClan in a peaceful time. He couldn't ask for a better family. Rainkit, his twin sister, and his proud mother and father; Featherstar, leader of DarkClan, and Stonefall, deputy of DarkClan. Lightningkit was born to be a leader. However, he is shadowed by his half-brother Thunderpaw, and his stepfather, Wildheart. Lightningkit wants nothing more than to become a loyal warrior to the Clan, and perhaps even become a leader one day! However, when a terrible "accident" leaves both of his parents dead, Lightningpaw runs away from DarkClan, and his home.
Raised in the alleys of a big city by two street-smart alley-cats, Boomer and DC, Lightningpaw forgets about DarkClan and the horror he left behind. But when he starts hearing whispers of terrible things and horror inside DarkClan, will he be able to face his past and save the Clan?
