For a moment, all was still. The dust stirred up from death's departure had just begun to settle. Crowley felt his heart slowly begin to ease it's frantic thrumming and he released a deep sigh, the corners of his mouth daring to raise ever so slightly. Even without Aziraphale, the horsemen had been defeated and the missile strike called off thanks to this odd group of scrappy children, a witch, and a witch finder.

"Why are you doing this?" Aziraphale's voice is faint, his breathing uneven. Crowley doesn't lift his eyes to see the sickly look on his face, the twist of pain where only joyous smiles should ever be. "Bandages need changing", he mumbles, eyes fixed firmly on his working hands. "No. I meant-" He can hear as Aziraphale swallows. "Why do you care for me?" It isn't just 'why do you take care of me'. It's 'why do you still care at all'. Crowley has to close his eyes for a second, makes sure Aziraphale doesn't see. "Cause you're here", he says, voice carefully detached, "and you're hurt, and you need someone. And that someone's gotta be me." "Why?" He won't answer that. He can't answer that. Their kiss continued, brutal and hot. Aziraphale suddenly remembered how his arms worked circled them around the demon's waist pulling him closer. Crowley broke off the kiss with a sharp inhale and moved his head to rest against the angel's. "Tell me to leave, angel." Raw need vibrated through the demon's voice. He pressed his forehead against Aziraphale's. His hands trembled as they cradled the angel's face. He took another ragged breath. "You don't want to do this! You don't want this from me!" Now it was Aziraphale's turn to take a inhale deeply. Their mouths were so close that their breath mingled. He could feel heat from the demon, from their pressed foreheads, down his chest, to his groin. He drained away the minor alcohol in his system and let cold, hard clarity wash over him. This was...dangerous. This was wild and thoughtless. Hedonistic. This should stop. That would be for the best. Safe. Sane. Responsible. "No" Aziraphale's voice ghosted the word. Death is inevitable, however he can't collect all of the souls by himself. That's were his children come in. Grim reapers are the children of Death. They are the ones to lead and protect souls on their journey between worlds. They were the first grim reaper and Deaths first child. They have been by his side since Eve was tempted by the snake and has shown nothing but loyalty to her father. They don't have a true name but is lovingly known as Hope by the angel and the demon of who they have always seemed to cross paths with. Why?
