An Excerpt from the Testimony of Spade:

To show gratitude for the Spade Kingdom's generosity, the fallen kingdoms will offer up ten girls, and ten boys, between the ages fifteen and nineteen yearly, at a public "Drawing", which will take place directly after the yearly Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony.

These tributes shall be delivered to the custody of the Spade Kingdom's capital, where they will be mentored and trained. In one week's time, the tributes will be transferred to a public arena where they will fight to the death, until a lone mage remains.
