A short story set in 19th-century London, England. It tells the life of Moorish sculptor Achille Diouf through the eyes of his new housemaid, Hetty Thompson. The divergent worlds of Victorian Britain and African Moorish culture blend and collide, friendships sprout and bloom, and cultural identities are reclaimed -- all beneath the overcast of a harrowing curse, which leads to unforgivable tragedy.

Burnley Manor is a house which has been lost to time. When Anne Montague accompanies her best friend on a trip to Barnet, the last thing she expects is to be catapulted into a love story that has spanned centuries. Her sheer presence in the house sets in motion events that are beyond her control, she feels things she cannot explain, knows things she couldn't possibly and people she had never met before recognise her. Before she knows it, secrets are unearthed that have consequences for her and all who reside at Burnley. And there is a small matter of a 500-year-old curse that threatens to destroy them all.
