WARNING: This may be a slow burner. The story is intriguing me and I want to make it something meaty, something more than a short story, something I can be really proud of. The problem is I have very little time, so updates may be sporadic. Bear with me, I want to do it justice, so research will be involved - this may make it take longer still :)

It's the story of a young Anglo Saxon woman, intelligent and somewhat willful, whose world is turned upside down by the arrival of brutal strangers. It is also the story of those strangers, what they meant for the people and places they encountered, and the legacies they left behind.

I hope you enjoy it.

Prologue " WELCOME Princess of Panikkar, I'm your new master and I hope you had a great journey." Hearing this the young princess remained silent but looked straight into his eyes with regal authority, this unbreakable courage, aura and stature of hers made his blood boil and he spoke fuming from rage, " You must learn to bow and please your master from today otherwise you and your great kingdom will face the consequences. So I order you to kneel before me. NOW!." Standing under his roof at his mercy the princess had the guts to look down on him in front of his men, not bulging from her place. He lost his last straw of patience and drew out his sword. "ENOUGH YOU'RE NOTHING BUT AN INSECT UNDER MY BOOTS I CAN CRUSH YOU AT ANY MOMENT. YOU BREATHE UNDER THIS ROOF AT MY MERCY DON'T TAKE MY PATIENCE FOR GRANTED." He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath before saying "So be a good girl obey orders and KNEEL BEFORE ME!!" But the princess stood her ground, her principles against bowing to the enemy, it's either to kill or die with honour. This action made him want to break her courage and pride into pieces. He promised that one day this princess would bend the knee and much more before him. ************************************************************************* A ruthless, British officer who is famously known as the 'Battle Lord' is posted to India to lead the war held against the Rajput Kings and bring them under the British government rule. A young, courageous Rajput Princess who is loved by everyone, isn't aware of the enemies sitting outside who are going to take her happiness away soon. ============================================================= This story and the characters, names, and places are completely fictional. It's based on the 17th or 18th century. WARNING: The story will contain some sexual scenes, adult language, abuse, attempted SA, etc, if you are not comfortable please don't read.

Gossip is rife in Bridbydale when the Bonners arrive in the village. Amongst other mysteries, the central one perplexing the villagers most is "Has anyone actually seen Mrs Bonner?". An unnamed visitor seems the unlikeliest to learn the truth, but he is the unwitting recipient of just that from Mr Bonner himself, who unburdens himself of the history of how he came to be in the village and the tale of the mysterious woman who accompanied him. From ruralest Yorkshire to London and back again, this long short story hopes to tempt those interested in the macabre, the fantastical and the unsettling. I'm trying to play with the idea of ingrained misogyny and the lessons we fail to learn at various stages in our treatment of women. --- If you're interested... BEHIND THE SCENES! Writing is a process, and in this work I had one specific goal: write a short story. It's something I haven't done since I was in seventh grade, and I wanted to see if I could do it. Things ended up much longer than I anticipated. I like the beginning frame story, but it's perhaps too long and I don't know how well it sits with the rest. Because I hate to name characters, the middle is more of a muddle in places. Even though it's brief, I found that the story in my head still moved me, especially towards the end as Ardea's fate becomes clear. I'm not sure how well what was in my head translated to the page, but still I am proud of it even if it really could do with some polishing. After seeing how long this story ended up, I wrote a short riff on it called "Naturans | Naturata" (also on WattPad) to see if I could economise. The two stories ended up quite different, although they do share some plot points and prose. There may be a third version in the future if I can find the right balance between the stories and what I really want to say. Feedback is always welcome!

She lead a rather tragic life. The black sheep of her family due to her lack of affinity for fire. Her affinity was quite the opposite. Water in fact. Already in a time when women did not really have much political power or rights, she was outcasted by her family despite being of nobility. Still allowed to live in the distant west wing of the massive Grand Duke's manor, she has never eaten a single meal with her family nor extended family, and has spent her loneliness in her books and sword lessons. Although only taught by the head butler and one of the low ranked knights of the family, she was quite bright and if her family would have given her a chance she would have done great things. If only she didn't die at such a young age. Married off to some "hero" of sort that had slayed the Dragon of the North who was terrorizing the land and threatened the kingdom, this hero also had an affinity for fire and held her in disdain like the rest of her family. Suddenly a girl of another world was transported to their world, picked up by this hero and put into his secure care. The pair soon fell for each other despite the hero's marriage, and many believed Laraine got jealous of this girl of mystery, and tried to kill her. This was definitely not true. But because the girl was favored by the temple and kingdom Laraine was quickly arrested and put on trial. You can probably tell what happened to Laraine. But something strange happened the day of her execution. As soon as her decapitated head hit the ground the sky turned blood red and it began to rain fire. No one survived that day. But for some reason time went back, and Laraine was back to being a child, but with no memory of her future. There were select few in her life, however, that remembered her tragedy and now perhaps will take action to prevent it. NOTE: I'M AWARE THERE ARE A LOT OF INCONSISTENCIES. IT WILL BE EDITED SOME DAY BUT RIGHT NOW I'M JUST TRYING TO FINISH IT.

Bree was a modern girl reborn into the world of shifters, as a bunny. This was obviously a cruel joke since she had died in her previous life by being mauled. In this new world, females were few due to the warlike environment. The different clans would constantly fight over land and resources. Females were considered the most valuable resource. If females refused to find at least two mates by the time they matured, they would be sold. You didn't want to be sold. Sold females were considered property and would get a mark of slavery on them. Because females were so expensive, they were usually bought by whole communities to be shared by unmated males. The mark of slavery prevented them from contracting a mate and therefor accumulating power and territory. You needed to create a strong home by contracting with powerful shifters. After contracting, they would receive your mark and become your champion. They would fight for your honor, use their magic ability for your benefit, and provide for you. In return, you were expected to produce eggs. Males could be the leader of a clan, but a female could take over large territories by contracting the strong clan leaders. After expanding her territory, a female would be considered nobility. The stronger their champions, the better their resources and territory. Larger area's typically had one queen female and her court made up of nobility. Every double full moon, they would fight for the honor to have their female enter the queen's court. At the end of the queen's reign, she could choose a new queen from her court. In the midst of all this, Bree discovered her own magic power, 'Otome Gamer.' While Bree is trying to fulfill her quests, and an ultimate goal that would change everything, a frightening darkness is spreading, and shifters start to disappear. Along her journey, Bree makes friends and discovers that fated mates actually exist. Please don't copy or steal my story or ideas. Thanks 🥰
