Elera survived a brutal war that decimated half the population of her world and left it without a ruler. After such devastation, the only thing she desires is peace, but when her distant connection to the crown is discovered, Elera is burdened with a throne she doesn't want. Her plan for the hostile and disharmonious kingdom - to unite the three races who have only ever wrought strife against each other.

Because the people's scars run deep, not everyone is happy with Queen Elara's grand scheme, and soon an attempt is made on her life. Yet, Elara shocks the accused attackers when she not only helps them to escape but also leaves with them, enlisting their help in achieving her vision of unification. Persuading a few assassins is one thing, but swaying the many citizens who still want revenge, and the powerful few who seek total domination overall, is another thing entirely. Plus, Elara's arrogance might be the greatest obstacle in convincing anyone else before discord reigns again
