Alexandra Stone and five other writers from across the country and abroad flee to the secluded and acclaimed Strykowski Family cabin. Hoping to purge the words within her that have taken a year to come out, Lex seeks comfort and support at the retreat surrounded by like-minded peers within the snow-dappled woods. After a childish dare ignites a chain of events that both mystify and frighten her, she soon comes to doubt whether her scintillating dreams and spine-chilling nightmares truly are just bizarre affectations of a bruised and hungry mind.

Rose Johnson hasn't been close with her family in the last ten years while she's dedicated her life to her own contractor business, mostly catering to those wanting to either flip their houses for profit, or those who simply desire a change in their environments. She loves her work. She loves her employees who are basically family to her. She loves her father...despite their differences. Correction, she loved her father and with the reading of his will, things in her usually calming world have turned upside down, forcing her into finding legal representation. Maya Joshi has just returned from visiting her uncle and his family in Luchang, India, having needed a break in his family operated ski resort and hot springs, and she already has a full case load. The first to pass her desk comes from her aunt-in-law set to retire in the next two months and carries quite a bit of weight. Scheming to deal with the civil litigation out of court, she meets with her new client and is surprised by her immediate attraction. However, given her recent tract record for dating and her constant need for the steady pace professionalism brings to her life, she swears to never act on it. Life may have other plans for both Rose and Maya. The question stands; Are they ready for what life will throw at them next? After a night on the town, Sarah wakes up to a miserable hangover. But it's nothing compared to what comes next. After attempting to light a cigarette, she feels that something isn't quite right. Now I have to finish by May 5th. I'm not as far along as I had hoped at this point, but I'm sure I can make it. May 4th. 12:10 am. Finished. Submitted. Good night. May 20th. Well, 13 Points made the Long List. I have no idea how many original entries there were but about 940 made the first cut. There's 150 on the Long List. Not bad for my first time out. Now we'll wait and see how we fare on the Short List. May 30th. Well, Sarah and company didn't make the Short List. I can't say I'm disappointed though.
