Spoiled, rich, party boy Scott Gryphon finally pushed his parents too far, and they send him to stay with his aunt in a small town in western Pennsylvania for his last summer before starting college. Expecting to die from boredom, Scott is excited to see the dilapidated out buildings at his aunt's house. Because Scott has a secret: he is into building and renovating. Carpentry, wiring, plumbing, drywall, all ignite a fire within him like nothing else in his life does. When he decides to take on a big project, his aunt suggests he asks for help from a local handyman, Ian Lyr. Taking an immediate dislike to the man, Scott struggles to work with him. But is there something more to Scott's feelings? Why did he agree to help Ian with his own project involving an old barn belonging to Scott's aunt? Why does the dour handyman seem to go out of his way to spend time with this brat? And what is Ian's dark story that no one will tell Scott about?

Sage Gibson wasn't prepared for his whole existence to be uprooted and moved away. He didn't love his life, but that didn't mean he wouldn't miss it. Now he's in a small town where he pretends not to notice the looks some people give him. Maybe it's the painted finger nails? He doesn't care all that much. He's too busy trying to figure himself out and how much of his past is affecting him. With his family to worry about and his own personal puzzle that is his mind, he doesn't have time to care about what people at school think of him. He's happy enough with his one new friend and gawking at her hot brother. (He will never admit that last part out loud.) That's all he needs. And if said hot brother wants to become friends too? Well, he won't complain. Marc Yamasaki is normally a quiet guy. He doesn't like to talk too much and everyone has just accepted that. He doesn't have much to say, so why try? He's too tired of trying to get people to care. When a new boy shows up, suddenly his interest is piqued. The freckled face boy is good at basketball and he's a little cute. Sure, he likes to talk a lot, but Marc finds it oddly adorable. The only slight problem is his hesitation to join the team, and the fact that he might be flirting with Aria, Marc's sister. He can't tell if he wants to hate or like this guy. Then he finds out he's gay? Cherry on top. So, what happens when the two boys get closer while playing basketball? Their friendship gets to feeling a little... odd. What will they become when a new tension starts to settle over them?

Not everyone's trust issues come from failed relationships. Sometimes, it comes from the family and friends closest to us. Griffin Miller and Parker Graham are living, breathing testaments to this truth. Somewhere on Griffins life path, between living with his perfect twin sister, fighting tooth and nail for his dads approval, and competing against his NFL-bound cousin, Griffin lost sight of what matters most in life: Peace. Health. Time. Purpose. If Griffin thought the first 18 years of his life were tough, it's nothing like what the past 5 months have been. Football, family, classes, and trying to keep his cousin alive is wearing him thin. Too thin. Parker is still reeling from a sudden life change that happened to him nearly six months ago. There's a chance that he could've healed by now, however without the support of his closest cousin & with the way his uncle is forcing him back onto the football field, those wounds are reopened every day. Even as Parkers life slowly becomes normal again, he still struggles to become the person that he used to be. When one little mistake during senior year changes the trajectory of both of their lives, it's too late to change. Parker can't do anything but stand back and watch his cousins life burn to the ground, hoping that his won't be next. Griffin is forced to chose between three choices: forgive his past, wreck his own future, or break all of the rules that he's been obeying for years. - - - It's like my lungs refuse to suck down air. They don't want to live after what just happened. Someone forces life back into them by slamming an oxygen mask over my nose and mouth. A million different people get the stretcher underneath me. Torment digs its' claws into my skin and rips it away. Grief squeezes real tears out of my eyes for the first time in eight years. Karma leans down next to me and whispers in my ear: 'You can't outrun me anymore.'
